Something has been bothering me ever since all the smoking-by-law letters. It seems all the people had one thing in common: They were worried about the health of their children.
What I don’t understand is, if parents are so worried about their children, why do they speed though the city like there’s no tomorrow?
I’ve seen women and men fly by me with children in their cars. This seems like the wrong thing to do if you are worried about keeping your children safe.
While the anti-smoking thing was going on, I looked in vain in the newspaper to find an article saying a child had died from second-hand smoke. But about every second day there was an article in which someone (children included) had died in a traffic accident.
Funny how there wasn’t one letter questioning why all these people are dyeing on Alberta Roads.
At least a third of the people driving in this city have no business being behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.
Many people have total disregard for playground signs. That big, yellow diamond-shaped sign with the stickman bouncing the ball means 40 km/h from 8:30 a.m. to one hour after sunset in non-urban areas, and 30 km/h in urban areas.
I am tired of having people honking, flashing lights and, believe it or not, passing me because I slow down though these zones.
Knowing Edmontonians want to keep their children safe, I’m sure I’ll be supported when I petition city hall for permanent radar sites in all playground zones.
