POTD: Garfield Then and Now

I used to read a lot of Garfield back in the 80s. I think I fell off around the time when the cartoon came out and he really started too look like an orange Mickey Mouse with a cat head. This is what looks like a complete archive of the cat. It's really neat to flip through.

Shut Those Musical Websites the Hell Up
I've finally had it with websites that try to create some kind of magical otherworldly experience by blasting whatever music or sound effect out of my computer speakers. Up to now it's simply resulted in me quickly hitting the back button to silence the annoyance. I stumbled upon a website tonight with music (yes with the stumbler extension) and finally had enough. The test subject is this Living With War website. There's no mute button that I can find on the page. I shouldn't have to find the stupid mute button though. Neil Young you're great but come-on!
Attempt #1
To begin with, I'm going to try this Stop Autoplay extension and see how it goes.
Results:
FAIL!
Explanation: I cleared the cache and reloaded the website. I even restarted the browser and the music kept on playing.
Attempt #2
Modified Firefox itself.
Tools-> Options-> Content-> Manage
I found anything in the list that looked like it might be an audio file and switched it from using a plugin like quicktime to simply saving it to disc.
Results:
SO FAR SO GOOD

POTD: The Simpsons?
I love how you automatically know which character is which with this awesome stylized portrayal of the Simpsons. Something about Ned Flanders really catches my eye. It'd be fantastic to see an entire episode animated in this style. I think it'd be refreshing the Simpsons staff to take on a guest animation team from time to time.

Deflatordome!
Back when BCPlace was brand new, a show called Switchback on CBC ran the footage of them inflating the dome in reverse and joked that it was deflating. Now the damn thing finally did really deflate.

The free contact form generator I used on my contact page from telepro.co.uk created a minor crisis when some lunatic found a way to use the script to send twenty-thousand spam messages via that very script and this server. Crazy bastards.
